Lagos is one of the busiest and most populous cities in Africa with a population of over 21 million people. As the economic capital of Nigeria, Lagos is a hub of activity driving the Nation's economic growth and development. However, the city's transportation challenges pose significant barriers to its economic potential. Road trips are the most common mode of traveling in the city. Private cars and commercial vehicles were the common means of transportation until the introduction of the BRT. According to the data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, there are over 3,000 registered commercial buses in Lagos. However, these buses cannot cater for the population of the city. The bus system in Lagos is plagued by challenges such as traffic congestion, poor road infrastructure, and overcrowding. To resolve this issue the BRT(Bus Rapid Transit) was launched in Lagos in 2008.
